Family Medicine Residency Program

Nathan Holt MD, MPH, MBA
Director of Inpatient Services
Clinical Assistant Professor, University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine

Born and raised in Southern Illinois, Dr. Holt received his BA in Physiology from Southern Illinois University- Carbondale.  He matriculated to University of Illinois College of Medicine in Champaign and Peoria, and completed a Masters in Public Health degree concurrently.  He completed his training in Family Medicine in the University of Illinois Chicago/Ravenswood Family Medicine Residency (under Dr. Elizabeth Feldman and Dr. Lise Weisberger).  Following residency, he started his career practicing full-spectrum family medicine in central Illinois.  He earned the role of Regional Medical Director for his health system and oversaw 20+ providers and 9 clinical sites.  After five years, he took a role as the director of hospitalist staffing firm and developed practices in Downer’s Grove and Arlington Heights.  He completed a MBA through the University of Massachusetts-Amherst in 2017.  He has always had aspirations to expand on his passion for educating and mentoring others and has been a great addition to the faculty as a teaching hospitalist.  He hopes to bring his expertise of working in both private practice comprehensive family medicine and as a full-time hospitalist to create a more robust experience for the residents in our program.

Dr. Holt’s philosophy is that effective medicine encompasses compassion and clear communication at the bedside as much as fostering growth, best practices, and allowing authenticity for all providers.  Outside of work, Dr. Holt can be found enjoying the outdoors and spending time with family.
